**BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT**:
The current prevalence of malnutrition in children is alarming. Maternal and child undernutrition is the underlying cause of approximately 45% of all mortality in children under 5. Stunting levels remain stubbornly high in many parts of the world, while child overweight is rising at a tremendous pace - even in low-income countries.




As one of the United Nations main agencies fighting malnutrition, the World Food Programme (WFP) is adapting to meet the current and emerging global nutrition challenges. This includes enhancing organizational capacity and innovating to improve programme quality, with a view to sustainably reducing all forms of malnutrition.
Digitization has the potential to improve field operations and increase the impact of WFP and partners’ efforts at improving the nutritional status of the people we serve. Currently, WFP has a number of digital tools in different stages of development: Conditional On-Demand Assistance (CODA), Meza and ENHANCE.
As a key member of the Nutrition Digital Innovation team, reporting directly to its Team Leader, the DI Officer will be responsible for supporting the development, quality assurance, roll-out, uptake and maintenance of current and future digital innovations. A key priority will be to work closely with field implementers, Nutrition/Health experts, counterparts in TEC and software developers to develop and deploy robust solutions adapted to the business needs and a complex programmatic landscape.
This is a temporary position,



seeking to reinforce the Digital Innovation team during the absence of a staff member.
**ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES **(not all-inclusive, within delegated authority)**:
- Lead the analysis and documentation of business requirements, including stakeholder maps, business processes, information flows and software specifications, to ensure current and future digital solutions are tailored to meet user needs and fit for purpose to achieve programmatic objectives. Of particular importance, during this temporary contract, is the intensive collaboration with Country Office-based Nutrition teams in understanding their requirements, bringing them across to technical teams and supporting implementation of resulting technology by the field.
- Provide needed guidance and technical support to Country Offices in collaboration with RBs, including Nutrition and Senior Programme Management, to determine system requirements and provide technical backstopping to adopt, implement and utilize digital solutions.




- Analyse requests for changes to digital solutions or new features or bug fixes, by creating detailed user flows and UML diagrams to enable the software developers to execute modifications, as well as provide oversight to the quality assurance processes.
- Enhance global learning and knowledge transfer on digitizing nutrition interventions by reviewing and analyzing tech performance in terms of Nutrition objectives and contributing to the production of case studies and research publications
**QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED**:
**Education**:
Advanced degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Statistics, Information Technology, International Relations, Communications or similar fields.
**Experience and Skills**:
- Experience in the humanitarian or development field, with a UN agency, NGO or public enterprise. Of particular importance is experience and knowledge of Nutrition programming in WFP or its cooperating partners.




- Experience with developing, introducing and enhancing the uptake of technological solutions, with a focus on information or data-based systems.
- Experience in Agile Software Development is desirable.
- Strong skills in project and relationship management, with an ability to juggle multiple tasks and overlapping deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required, especially in translating complex technical concepts for diverse audiences and collaborating with stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated capacity in thinking analytically, creatively and strategically.
- Ability to concisely document workflows, write use-cases and user stories in order to transfer Nutritional processes to technical interlocutors.
- Data analysis skills would be a distinct advantage.
- Ability to work independently as well as in intra
- and inter-divisional team settings and take initiative if required.




- Proficient in the use of IT tools and platforms, including Office 365 (PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, Word etc.) and project management tools as required.
**Language**:
- Advanced professional level of written and spoken English.
