HEAD OF LOGISTICS PURCHASING
ABOUT THE JOB
As the Head of Logistics Purchasing, you will be responsible for managing the purchasing strategy and activities related to logistics, ensuring optimal supplier performance and cost efficiency. You will develop and implement strategies to align with business objectives, mitigate supply chain risks, and deliver cost savings. Your role includes developing and maintaining strategic supplier relationships, managing contracts, and leading a team to support business development objectives. You will work closely with the senior management team to contribute to overall business goals.
ABOUT YOUR TASKS
**Strategy and Development**
- Create and implement best practice logistics purchasing vision and strategy to enhance business performance.
- Ensure logistics purchasing strategies and processes meet business objectives and operational needs in terms of price, quality, and delivery targets.
- Evaluate business challenges, mitigate risks, and develop opportunities.
- Contribute to overall business strategy and annual budget process.
**General and Task Management**
- Manage relationships and negotiate with key logistics suppliers at a senior and strategic level.
- Negotiate contract terms with key suppliers to ensure value for money, quality standards, and delivery terms, with technical and operational input from stakeholders.
- Utilize expertise in negotiation strategies to close deals with optimal terms.
- Forecast price and market trends to identify shifts in buyer-supplier power balance.
- Seek and partner with reliable logistics vendors and suppliers.
- Develop a vendor base that creates and sustains a competitive advantage through global market exploitation, leveraging spends, and technologies.
- Implement and maintain a supplier relationship and evaluation process to measure effective supplier performance and compliance.
- Contribute to new business initiatives and projects, working closely with R&D; and Business Units to source new and alternative logistics suppliers.
**People Management**
- Provide leadership, coordination, and coaching to the team, ensuring they are trained to achieve operational and financial metrics and succeed in their roles.
- Lead departments under your control, coach, mentor, and develop direct reports, and manage a high-performing team that delivers continuous improvement, added value, and cost reductions.
- Set department objectives and monitor ongoing progress and performance.
- Ensure the function operates in accordance with health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, manage attendance, holidays, etc.
- Work collaboratively, negotiate, and engage with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with the logistics purchasing strategy.

- Proven leadership and management skills with the ability to optimize team performance and development.

- Results-oriented with the ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines.
- Educated to degree level (preferably Masters) in a relevant commercial or logistics field.
- Ability to add value, reduce costs, and make business improvements.
- Proven contract management and supplier experience.
- Experience of operating and influencing at a strategic level.
- Computer literate, especially proficient in Excel.
- Mandatory fluency in English; any other language is an asset.Willingness to travel 50% of the time.
