**BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT**:
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the world’s largest humanitarian organization, saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to build a pathway to peace, stability and prosperity for people recovering from conflict, disasters and the impact of climate change. WFP has more than 20,000 dedicated employees globally, most of whom work in field locations. The Internal Communications and Engagement unit (ICE) of the Communications,
Advocacy & Marketing Division (CAM) plays a key role in empowering employees to deliver on and support the organization’s mission to achieve Zero Hunger.
We are currently seeking a consultant, who, under the supervision of the Head of Internal Communications and Engagement unit, will develop creative concepts for digital internal communications and platforms, producing communications materials for digital media for internal audience.
**ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Produce multimedia and web communications products for WFP's internal digital platforms;
- Develop, design and/or code custom web intranet pages and microsites for both WFP's departments such as Workplace Culture and the Internal Communications Unit. Maintain and implement updates on the developed pages;
- Digital communication support for the WorkPlace Culture Department and other divisions including guidance and best practice of internal engagement channels, tools and platforms;
- Content curation by identifying, collecting, and supporting the vetting of multimedia materials (photos and videos) and other creative assets (iconography, brand guidance, templates, etc.) from WFP's vast content archives;
- Contribute to maintaining and strengthening WFP branding ensuring creative consistency; liaise with Creative Studio, social media and web teams for input and guidance;
- Track, measure, evaluate and report back on the performance of communications outputs from various internal communication channels;
- Other related duties as required.
**DELIVERABLES**:
- Graphic design and multimedia assets developed and their content curated;
- Internal webpages developed, maintained and updates implemented;
- Regular Performance reports on ICE communication platforms produced including tailored reports on workplace culture initiatives;
- Other required duties completed.
**QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED**:
**Education**:University degree in Information Management, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, International Development, or other relevant field.
**Experience**:At least 3 years of postgraduate experience preferably in project management.
**Knowledge and Skills**:
- Ability to work independently, as well as to organize, assess and coordinate tasks with others
- Ability to work harmoniously with people of different national and cultural backgrounds
- Knowledge of WFP’s corporate culture, the United Nations and the UN system in general is highly desirable
**Web Development**:
- Knowledge of HTML 5, CSS 3 and other web development languages
- Experience using content management systems e.g., Drupal, WordPress, Joomla, etc.
- Experience designing and developing websites and other UX/UI digital projects
**Graphic Design & Multimedia**:
- Knowledge and experience with design and multimedia software e.g. Adobe Photoshop, Indesign, Premiere pro, Affinity Publisher, etc.
- Creative conceptualization, story boarding, and design experience
- Video editing
- Keen eye for stunning, impactful visual assets
**Digital Tools**:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools i.e.
PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Publisher, etc.
- Experience with O365 platforms i.e. Stream, SharePoint, Teams, Forms, Yammer, etc.
- Experience with digital signage tools, digital asset management tools
**Monitoring and Evaluation**
- Knowledge of digital analytics tools e.g. Google Analytics, Brandwatch, etc.
- Data visualization skills
**Languages**:Excellent knowledge of English (level C) is required. An intermediate knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) or Portuguese (one of WFP’s working languages) is a plus.
