**About this Position**




Laudato Si Movement in North America has growing engagement across the continent with incredibly passionate, skilled, and engaged grassroots and grasstops leaders-Laudato Si Animators-committed to caring for and healing our common home. Working in collaboration with a global team, the North American context provides unique challenges and opportunities, which entails deep strategy and intentionality to maximize our impact in responding to ecological crises. This person will support, resource, and grow this Catholic community in the US, Canada, and the English-speaking Caribbean even further through leading the onboarding process for new members through the Laudato Si Animators program, supporting localized implementation of global campaigns, strategic outreach to grassroots, mapping for greatest political impact to stop fossil fuel expansion, and intentional and faith-filled building of communities of hope and action, in coordination with the North America team. This person will be a part of a passionate, fun, and impact-driven team that is excited to build creative and generative approaches to responding to the crisis of our time.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Laudato Si Animators (LSA) Program:



Facilitate the North American implementation of the new member onboarding program in English, including supporting leaders, members in formation, promotion, mapping, and supporting the global program; organizing and facilitating US-community building in coordination with the global program.
- North America campaign coordination: for 2024: Local and Community Encounter Process: Build communications strategy, support, resource, accompany, and follow up with LSM’s global Encounters campaign of landscape assessment and community discernment on the local, regional, and national level.
- Relationship building and management: Member Structures: Support, connect, and strategize with Member Organizations and Laudato Si' Circles.
- Various other responsibilities, including mapping, database support, logistics and technical support, and others which may arise as needed.
**Skills and Characteristics**
Essential




- Endorses and embodies LSM values and the Laudato Si’ paradigm in behavior and words; comfortable supporting and working in a faith-based environment.
- Self-awareness and emotional intelligence, solutions
- and results-oriented strategy, self-motivated.
- 2+ years of experience in community organizing with a proven track record of driving action at scale, or comparable experience.
- Basic understanding of climate science, environmental health and degradation, and climate justice, as well as commitment to understanding our human connection with nature.
- Basic understanding of advocacy, the US and/or Canadian legal and political systems.
- Experience working with Hispanic/Latino communities
- Enjoys working with people, friendly, a good sense of humor.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexible with an ability to adapt in changing environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Community Organizing, Environmental Sciences, Theology, Social Work, or any other related field,



or comparable experience.
Desirable
- Experience in Community Organizing, Environmental Sciences, Theology, Social Work, or any other related field.
- Experience building advocacy strategies, lobbying, or other comparable skill.
- Comfort and familiarity with the Catholic Church, Catholic Church Structures, and Catholic Social Teaching, particularly integral ecology.
**Languages**: Fluent English written and spoken required, Spanish and/or French preferred
**Hours**: 40 hours per week

**Work environment**: This position will work remotely, with very occasional work travel.
