**Organizational Setting**
The UN Food Systems Summit (hereinafter UNFSS), held during the 2021 UN General Assembly, set the stage for global food systems transformation to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. Under the leadership of the Secretary-General, the FSS made it clear that transformative action in food systems is fundamental to achieving the SDGs. As a follow up to the Summit, the UN Secretary-General (UNSG) has committed the UN system to establish a UN Food Systems Coordination Hub (hereafter the Hub) to support countries implementing food system transformation pathways towards the achievement of the 2030 Agenda. The hub is hosted by FAO in Rome on behalf of the UN System.
The Hub has a coordinating and connector role drawing on the capacities of the UN system and leveraging on the advice and expertise from a wider ecosystem of support, serving countries, by incentivizing existing institutions to deliver on their mandates in a systemic way. Based on this background, the Biennial Work Plan 2024-2026 of the Hub is structured along an evolving version of the six key functions adopted for the 2022-2023 Work Plan recomposed into five coordination clusters, which are:
1. Landing the Vision - Overarching Cluster
2. Policy and Governance Cluster
3. Science and Knowledge Cluster
4. Strategic Partnerships and Collaboration Cluster
5. Finance and Investment Cluster
**Reporting Lines**
The Food Systems Specialist will report to the Senior Programme Coordinator of the of the Hub
**Technical Focus**
The assignment will provide state-of-the-art advisory services and technical support to the Hub Director and Senior Programme Coordinator and the various Hub workstreams, in relation to private sector engagement,
corporate accountability and private sector financing in support of food systems transformation, in order to support the effective roll-out and implementation of the Hub mandate and workplan.
The specialist will develop a framework for corporate accountability as well as contribute to the overall Hub strategy on private sector engagement to feed into the Hub biennial workplan 2024-2025.
**Tasks and responsibilities**
- Policy and Technical input_
- Provide advice on the private sector engagement priority activities of the Hub.
- Ensure appropriate follow-up to requests for technical support on private sector engagement coming from countries and partners.
- Support the production of comprehensive corporate accountability framework for achieving the mandate under the UNFSS+2 UNSG Call to Action.
- Support the Hub’s engagement in global policy discussions related to the involvement of private sector in food systems transformation.
- Partnership_
- Identify strategic private sector partners and create a channel of communication with key organizations and corporations with the goal of sharing strategic information between the Hub and the sector and vice versa.
- Liaises and maintains strong working relationships with the UN Global Compact, key private sector actors; create and leverage opportunities for new strategic partnerships.
- Facilitate knowledge management, exchange of lessons-learned and best practices, peer learning and cooperation amongst relevant stakeholders; support capacity building initiatives.
- UNFSS+4_
- Support the Hub Director and Senior Programme Coordinator in articulating and communicating the Hub’s unique value proportion, in general, and specifically in collective and integrated advances towards the UNFSS+4.
- Support the preparation of the corporate accountability and private sector engagement process; consolidate and report on inputs received from key stakeholders during the meetings and the process of accountability. Ensure that the results of Hub activities in this action are documented, shared and known to demonstrate the impact of the engagements, suppor
