Organisation / Company: Università degli Studi Roma Tre Research Field: Engineering Researcher Profile: Recognised Researcher (R2), Leading Researcher (R4), First Stage Researcher (R1), Established Researcher (R3) Country: Italy Application Deadline: 9 Jan 2025 - 23:59 (UTC) Type of Contract: To be defined Job Status: Not Applicable Is the job funded through the EU Research Framework Programme? Not funded by a EU programme Is the Job related to staff position within a Research Infrastructure? No Offer Description: The research activity will focus on the fabrication and characterization of diamond detectors for electron beams at high energy (6-20 MeV) used in the FLASH radiotherapy technique, useful for its preclinical evaluation.
The research program will cover two basic aspects: Fabricate CVD and HPHT single-crystal diamond detectors with specific design and types of contacts, both metallic and graphitic. The latter will be fabricated with fs lasers, including 3D structures to optimize collection efficiency and spatial resolution. The detectors will then be characterized using techniques of dark and photoconductivity in both the UV-visible range and under hard-X radiation (40 keV - 50 keV). Carry out experimental set-ups for the acquisition of the signal generated by the diamond detectors operating in the relevant environment.
