Organisation / Company: PRIN PNRR Research Field: Agricultural sciences Researcher Profile: Recognised Researcher (R2), Leading Researcher (R4), First Stage Researcher (R1), Established Researcher (R3) Country: Italy Application Deadline: 24 Jan 2025 - 23:59 (UTC) Type of Contract: To be defined Job Status: Not Applicable Is the job funded through the EU Research Framework Programme? Not funded by a EU programme Is the Job related to staff position within a Research Infrastructure? No Offer Description In this Project, we will compare the methylation profile in somatic (blood) and germ cells (sperm) of Italian cattle breeds,
to characterize within and between breed epigenetic variation and polymorphism density in regions with differential methylation. Nine dairy, dual purpose and beef cattle breeds, both local and cosmopolitan, will be selected to maximize the epigenetic diversity and investigate distinctive functional adaptive traits. Some of the samples useful for the study are already available in the Farm Animal Cryobank of the Institute of Agricultural Biology and Biotechnology of the National Research Council (IBBA-CNR); others will be collected and processed, following the quality standard of the Cryobank procedures. We will use an exclusive approach that combines breed genotype assessment by genotyping by sequencing (GBS) with whole genome bisulfite sequencing (WGBS) of individual animals.
