Organisation / Company : Università degli Studi di Padova Research Field : Biological sciences » Biology Researcher Profile : Recognised Researcher (R2), Leading Researcher (R4), First Stage Researcher (R1), Established Researcher (R3) Country : Italy Application Deadline : 17 Jan 2025 - 09 : 00 (UTC) Type of Contract : To be defined Job Status : Not Applicable Funding : Not funded by a EU programme Research Position : Not related to staff position within a Research Infrastructure Offer Description : Background : ME / CFS is a chronic disease affecting over 2 million people in Europe and America, characterized by persistent and unexplained post-exertional fatigue. Its etiology and symptom heterogeneity remain unclear,
and no single biomarker or definitive diagnostic sign has been identified. Aim : The project addresses two key questions: a) What pathways are altered in the diverse cell populations of ME / CFS patient muscles? b) How do cellular interactions and communication differ between patient and normal muscles? Methods : The work will integrate impedance sensing, single-cell RNA sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, and pathway analysis to identify differential features, quantitatively explain alterations in ME / CFS patients, and discover new objective markers for diagnosis. Collaborations : The researcher will work within an international group, collaborating with Lehigh University (USA), and the Universities of Chieti and Padova (Italy). J-18808-Ljbffr
