Workplace: The Centre on Sustainable Energy (SE) supports the development of devices and methods for generation, storage, and distribution of energy solutions at low environmental impact. The Battery and Electrification Technologies (BET) unit targets the development and optimal use of battery technologies in both mobility and stationary applications. Job Description: The position offered concerns the development and validation of battery materials and technologies focusing on solid-state batteries (in particular generation 4b and 4c with metal anode). The candidate will work in the Battery and Electrification Technologies (BET) Unit supporting both European and national projects. The activities of the successful candidate will focus on: Development and synthesis of materials (electrolytes and active materials) for solid-state batteries; Electrochemical and structural characterization of anode and cathode materials and electrolytes; Lab-scale cell assembly and testing aiming at finding the optimal combination of materials; Performing electrochemical tests on lab-scale cells (from coin to pouch/cylindrical)



and data analysis; Supporting or coordinating project proposals; Supporting FBK’s participation in the Batteries European Partnership (BEPA) technical working groups; Supporting lab equipment selection and management. The ideal candidate must have: MSc in Chemistry, Material Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering or other relevant degrees; Know-how on chemistry/material science; Strong know-how on electrochemistry; Experience in materials preparation for solid-state batteries; Experience in electrochemical characterization and familiarity with material characterization; Experience in assembling and testing lab-scale solid-state cells; Ability to analyze experimental results using scientific tools; Ability to write technical reports and scientific papers; Ability to manage multiple projects effectively; Good knowledge of written and spoken English; Ability to work in a collaborative environment; Skills in problem solving; Good communication and relational skills; Self-motivation and result orientation. Furthermore,



the following elements will be positively evaluated: PhD Degree in fields related to this call; Experience on redox flow batteries, in particular for material development and testing.
