Organisation / Company: Università degli Studi di Messina Research Field: Physics Researcher Profile: Recognised Researcher (R2), Leading Researcher (R4), First Stage Researcher (R1), Established Researcher (R3) Country: Italy Application Deadline: 9 Jan 2025 - 23:59 (UTC) Type of Contract: To be defined Job Status: Not Applicable Funding: Not funded by a EU programme Research Position: Not related to staff position within a Research Infrastructure Offer Description: We propose to develop new approaches to design Event Generators based on Machine Learning algorithms (MLEG). We are looking for three candidates: To develop MLEG for nuclear and particle physics. To apply MLEG to processes of physical interest for hadronic physics,
where the particles in the final state have non-trivial correlations that must be reproduced with extreme precision by generative algorithms. To apply MLEG to Dark Matter searches, where the flexibility of the generative algorithms makes it easier to study the response of the detector to different interaction models, and can be extended to the interaction with neutrinos, and to the classification of the two types of events. The activities require a careful approach to optimizing models to run on large amounts of data, with particular attention to managing uncertainty and adapting to the specifics of each experiment.
